Our Story
Todd and Onya didn’t set out to run a campground. They set out to raise two kids who knew how to build a fire, name a constellation, and sit still long enough to watch a sunset without a screen in their hands.
Weekend stops at the campground turned into a habit. A habit turned into a question Todd and Onya kept asking each other: why does this feel like the best part of our week, every single week? Somewhere in there, the answer stopped being “because we’re on vacation” and started being something simpler — this is just how a family is supposed to spend its time together. Outside. Slower. Closer.
That question is the reason Nature’s Touch exists. Not as a business plan first, but as an attempt to build the kind of place Todd and Onya wanted to keep bringing Malaki and Mya back to — clean, well-run, genuinely welcoming, without the pretense some campgrounds put on. A pool that’s actually open when it’s supposed to be. A staff that treats every family like they’re glad you’re here. The kind of campground where a kid can still ride a bike to the game room by themselves and a parent can still relax because of it. Where the fire’s hot enough for a proper s’more. Golden on the outside, melted all the way through. Mya’s particular about it.
It worked. Guests kept coming back, kept telling their friends, and eventually Todd and Onya had the chance to do it again — this time at Winding River in New Lisbon, a second property built on the same idea: that camping doesn’t need to be complicated to be great. It just needs someone paying attention.
Two campgrounds in, the goal hasn’t changed. Todd and Onya aren’t trying to build the biggest resort in Wisconsin Dells. They’re trying to build the place their own kids still want to go — and the place your kids will ask to come back to, year after year, until the s’mores are a tradition of yours too.
That’s the way it should be.
